Last Thursday I took O and E for a little trip to the Fullerton Farmers Market with one of my best friends and her kiddos. Among an assortment of produce we got a flat of delicious ripe strawberries and I figured this is a perfect opportunity to learn a new recipe so I decided to try my hand at strawberry syrup. It’s so simple and so good!
Here is the recipe.
Simple Sweet Strawberry Syrup
Ingredients:
– 1cup of water
– 1cup of granulated sugar
– 2-3 cups of strawberries
Directions:
- Combine sugar and water in a sauce pan and heat u ntill sugar is diluted (med high heat for around 5 minutes).
- Prep strawberries by cutting of tops and dicing them up (I used my favorite hand powered Tupperware chopper Tupperware Chop ‘N Prep Chef
).
- Add strawberries to the sugar water and bring to a boil for about 10 minutes. Dont forget to stir it; mine boiled over a little bit.
- Next you can strain out the strawberries if you want, but I left them in and it tasted great!
- Use the syrup right away or put it into a sealed container and store it in your refrigerator.
Bonus: This slightly watery syrup moistened up my less than perfect pancakes.
Just for fun here is a photo of O and my best friends daughter at the farmer’s market.
In case you are local the Fullerton Market is open April 3 – October 30, 2014 on Thursdays from 4 to 8:30 p.m.
